All About Mastercard Data & Services

Mastercard Data & Services (D&S) is the professional consulting services arm of Mastercard, providing cutting-edge services to help customers grow. D&S combines traditional management consulting & marketing with rich transactional data assets and in-house technology to provide clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations. With a unique transactional dataset and payment expertise, D&S derive deep understanding on consumer needs (e.g. spend behavior & preference, travel preference, etc.) and addresses complex challenges throughout the payment lifecycle – from card activation & payments app, to authorization & fraud. While specializing in the payments industry, D&S also works with clients across multiple industries, including financial institutions, major retailers, airlines, travel operators, and other enterprises, leveraging data and insights garnered from within and beyond the Mastercard network.

Make an Impact

As an intern on the Data & Services Team – BeLux Squad, you will collaborate with awesome colleagues to help some of the biggest banks in Belgium answer their most challenging strategic questions. While working in close-knit teams, you will partner closely with senior stakeholders and be given real responsibility to make an impact for our clients from day one. In this setting, you will learn quickly and gain exposure to diverse business issues, gaining the experience required to lead key client engagements.

As an insight, the intern:

• Helps execute marketing strategies, activities, and events (includes awareness, acquisition and upgrade campaigns, media placement, promotions, webinars, salesforce challenges) by coordinating logistics and providing additional support, as directed

• Supports development of creative content for application in marketing strategies, including thought leadership content and communication of subject matter expertise, by following specific directions from team members

• May help track budget for smaller marketing programs, and raises awareness when programs are not on track against budget

• Collaborate with colleagues across different areas of the organization and quickly gain exposure to business development, account management, and product management

• Receives extensive training focusing on helping you build your core consulting skill set

• Grows their career by receiving hands-on mentorship from an experienced team member

• Supports campaign performance measurement and evaluation by gathering relevant data

• Supports preparation of marketing solution presentations, by gathering data and formatting documents

• Has an immediate opportunity for meaningful contributions, increased responsibility, leadership roles, and professional advancement

• May interact with vendors (e.g., agencies, clients, etc.) to ensure that deadlines are met

All About You

Basic conditions (applicable to all interns)

• Be a EU citizen

• Attend a recognized Belgium-based university or high school (“Haute Ecole”)

• Be a full-time student

• Be a bachelor’s degree (“Haute Ecole”) or a master’s degree (university) student with outstanding record of academic achievement

• Be available for at least two months (three months preferably)

• Be able to provide an internship agreement that is produced by the attended university or “Haute Ecole”


• Good command of English and Dutch, any other language is a plus (e.g., French)

• Be a marketing student (or any other relevant area such as business engineering with a focus on marketing, communication, etc.)

• Have proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities (e.g., student worker experiences, society, etc.)

• Show interest and passion in the payment and fintech industry as well as in marketing

• Be willing to work within small teams to produce outstanding deliverables with a will to win attitude

• Be eager and able to learn fast and adapt to a rapidly growing and changing environment

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Good command of MS Office tools
