Director, Commercial Account Management

Overview

This position reports to the Vice President & Team Lead, Issuer Relationship Management and is responsible for account management and relationship management with a key Issuer, specifically focusing on their North American Commercial Card business and Small Business.

Role

  • Initiate high-level, interactive business conversations within issuing bank/customer business to grow MasterCard revenues in the Canadian Commercial and Small Business banking and card markets.

  • Expand customer relationships to ensure alignment with MC to grow issuing customer's business in the Commercial and Small Business market space.

  • Create interest and convey value of MasterCard's products, services and programs through the use of a multi-touch process.

  • Establish quantifiable competitive positions for MasterCard,

  • Communicate and consult with customers regarding our Commercial payments solution products and Small Business card products

  • Pro-actively identify the challenges to MasterCard's growth and expansion within issuing customer’s Commercial and Small businesses and develop/propose solutions that establish mutual benefit.

  • Effectively utilize research tools and resources in the preparation and development of proposals.

  • Communicate, consult and present to senior management on all phases of the business development effort.

Manage and grow the relationship between Fraud and Info Security domains to ensure product retention, growth and user experience.

Manage the account P/L to ensure annual targets are met and appropriate risk mitigation is in place

Responsibilities include:

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Typically several years B2B business development field in financial services preferably in North American Commercial Payments Solutions.

  • Ability to keep abreast of the external forces which affect issuing entities, and to assess the impact of these on MasterCard's business opportunities'

  • Mastery of account management and sales skills, including creating interest at all levels of the organization, and developing strategic business solutions for customers

  • Knowledge of Commercial banking, Small business banking as well as the North American business drivers is an asset

  • Knowledge of the Canadian Commercial banking environment required and knowledge of the global Commercial banking environment an asset.

Knowledge of the Canadian Small business banking environment required and knowledge of the global Commercial banking environment an asset.

  • Market-leading communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to negotiate win-win product and service agreements

  • Ability to process information and incorporate feedback into an interactive business conversation

  • Strong project management skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing, enhancing, developing and rolling-out solutions and programs.

  • P&L responsibility desired

  • Ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines (i.e., marketing, operations, and function in an unstructured environment with minimal day-to-day supervision.)

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.

  • High integrity, energy and enthusiasm

  • NOTE: 20% travel required and 20% after hours entertainment required
