Director of Sales Engineering

Overview:

The Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (C&I) team is responsible for product management and innovative product development of products and services to address the evolving risk & cyber security needs of all of MasterCard’s various customer segments. The C&I team was established with the responsibility to safeguard all aspects of safety and security in payments and have made great strides with new products, services and standards, positively impacting all aspects of our current and future payment eco-system.

Ekata, a Mastercard company, is the global standard in identity verification, providing businesses worldwide the ability to link any digital transaction to the human behind it. Our Ekata Identity Engine, the first and only of its kind, uses complex machine learning to combine features derived from the billions of transactions within our proprietary network and the data from our graph to deliver industry leading risk assessment solutions.

As a Director of Sales Engineering team at Ekata, a Mastercard Company, you will lead a diverse customer-facing technical team responsible for guiding prospective and current customers through Ekata API implementations. Your team of product experts are tasked with helping customers solve their fraud related business problems by ensuring they find the maximum value out of Ekata data while helping Sales close deals quickly and accelerate Ekata’s continued growth in the market. As a leader of a critical internal and external support team, you will work collaboratively with our account services, sales and partnerships and marketing teams in order to help qualify and close new opportunities for Ekata products.

In this role you will:

  • Lead, coach and further develop a team of sales engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and performance reviews

  • Ensure team has effective processes and communications for servicing the needs of our market facing teams

  • Ensure the development and maintenance of team standards and procedures that result in an environment compliant with company policies

  • Drive recruiting and interviewing candidates to make successful hires

  • Support the growth and learning of team members, through mentorship and supporting professional learning opportunities

  • Grow as a director via strategic planning, mentoring and training, and give and receive quarterly evaluations

  • Work with product and sales leadership to help build out a solid go to market strategy in the region

  • Work with market facing leaders to prioritize sales opportunities and support of existing accounts

  • Liaise with the Product team to bring customer facing perspectives and share feedback from the market

  • Represent Ekata in the market, attending conferences and webinars, and supporting the creation of best practice documentation including industry knowledge and product use

  • Be a thought leader in product strategy

  • Lead a team in ways that aligns with and supports overall company values

All About You:

  • Excellent spoken and written English skills

  • BS or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)

  • Experience working as a sales engineer or similar technical role

  • Experience directing and managing teams with technical contributors

  • Experience working with sales and other market facing teams

  • Good interpersonal skills, open and honest communicator

  • Good problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities and make decisions quickly

  • Experience with SaaS, AWS, Databricks, distributed computing, big data or machine learning projects and solutions

  • Basic scripting and analysis skills in Python

  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non technical internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of staff including data science, engineering, product management, marketing, business, both internally and externally

  • Ability to extract and analyze data in SQL

  • High level knowledge and understanding of supervised machine learning models and APIs

  • Experience in understanding customer needs and using those to build technical specifications

  • Proven ability to establish credibility with technical leaders in customer organizations
