VP - Innovation Strategy


The Digital Future team is responsible for helping guide Mastercard€™s digital strategy and development by anticipating customer needs and future proofing our business for the long-term. This includes analyzing emerging trends to inform corporate strategy, providing industry thought leadership and driving product innovation in areas like the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, mobile network operator engagement, and others, through new business models and solutions.

As customers embrace lead a more digital lifestyle and conducting commerce in new forms, Mastercard is leading the digital transformation in payments by shifting share away from cash to alternative digital methods of shopping and payment, whether in-store, at home or on-the-go.

The Innovation Strategy Lead will oversee market trends and provide business insights, market penetration tactics, thought leadership and global best practices for the successful analysis and strategic development of new products and services. The Lead will work alongside key stakeholders to construct the proposition which best meet the needs of our customers and meet the interests of Mastercard.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with a proven track record of deep understanding of digital payments, product innovation and developments in an emerging space. The candidate will also have broad knowledge of Mastercard€™s product assets and value-added services.

Maximize Mastercard€™s relevance in the digital commerce ecosystem by researching, monitoring emerging trends influential to our business.

Aid in formulating Mastercard€™s future digital strategy across a number of different trends like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Gig Economy, and Mega Apps.

Manage and deliver a pipeline of thought leadership pieces in partnership with academia and research firms to highlight Mastercard€™s POV on emerging trends, technology, and consumer behavior.

Develop future narrative which aids Mastercard€™s external communication efforts at industry events

Assist in the process of validating product innovation initiatives and aid the business case development for the long-term assessment and commercialization of new products

Proactively establish, clarify, and evaluate global best practices on emerging business models impacting the world of commerce including new interfaces, channels of engagement, and solutions.

Work alongside key internal stakeholders (i.e. Corporate Development, Labs and Franchise) sharing Digital Solutions perspectives on future trends to inform corporate strategy.

Strong commercial awareness, business judgment to think through all aspects of product commercialization

Excellent presentation and communication skills, both drafting and presenting, oral and written information

Global nature of role may require some travel

Bachelor€™s degree required, Advanced degree a plus

Fluency in English required, additional language(s) a plus
