Senior Project Manager

Overview

RTP Delivery is changing how it delivers its compelling technology solution, shifting rapidly to collaborative/Agile approaches for all solutions, providing an entire development community with a set of modernised and integrated development/testing tools.

These changes will have a dramatic positive effect on morale and our ability to recruit and retain highly skilled people, where they will be fully engaged with the stakeholder community and the Payments Industry.

Further, we will be delivering with a speed to market hitherto unprecedented at RTP Delivery and equal or faster to the rest of the Payments industry - this will enable us to realise our ambitions by winning deals due to the improved reputation of VL, and also via the demonstration of a modern delivery capability.

The Project Management community is absolutely fundamental to these ambitions. We need PMs who can rapidly embrace and move to a more Agile environment, with a flexible, can-do attitude within a freshly empowered and motivated community. Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills are also essential.

It is within this context that we are recruiting a PM to initially work within the Payment Scheme Sub Portfolio However the successful candidate would be expected to demonstrate the flexibility to work on assignments across the UK portfolio, which could include infrastructure delivery as well as software development projects and new customer on-boardings.

Role:

Project Management responsibilities on any UK Project:

Manage the overall coordination, status reporting, financials, schedules and stability of project-oriented work efforts, ensures that project goals and objectives are met within agreed upon time, scope and resource requirements

Develops detailed project plans and manages all implementation processes within budget constraints

The Project Manager will seek to maximise client satisfaction and where appropriate aim to protect and maximise revenue streams associated with a project in line with product and sales expectations

Projects up to £1m in value, medium in size, an average risk profile and complexity

The Project Manager will:

Manage medium-sized project/initiatives as an individual contributor with advanced knowledge within discipline, leading a segment of several initiatives or a larger initiative

Responsible for planning, developing, and executing project schedules, ensuring compliance, resolving issues, and monitoring project budget and potential risks

Effectively deal with and develop solutions to moderately difficult problems

Provides input into new products, processes, standards or plans in support of the business

Lead complex initiatives and projects

Regularly communicate to the status of specific project deliverables, and interact with clients as required to manage the delivery

Liaise with external third-party suppliers, internal customers and stakeholders (for example RTP Delivery Operations)

Have a basic understanding of any pertinent contract related to the project assigned and a broad understanding of the contractual commitments that you have to meet

Minimise any commercial or reputational risk to RTP Delivery on projects as directed by the product owner

The Project Manager must:

Have experience working in cross-functional environments and on small to medium projects

Have experience in an Agile working environment

Be a self-starter and a driver for process & continuous improvement within the team

Have a strong commercial focus on activities that contribute to the performance of RTP Delivery providing measurable value to the business

Accurately estimate and provide input into the forecast budget and resource demand

Have a broad understanding of all contractual obligations and constraints

Have experience of running projects with a budget of up to £500K

Have experience of interacting with 3rd party suppliers and vendors

Strong understanding of risk management

Strong stakeholder management skills are essential
