Overview

The Operating Systems team is looking for a Lead Systems Platform Engineer to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.

Role

• Performs technical analysis of complex software, hardware, and transmission facility using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient Linux operations.

• Creates technology roadmaps and looks for innovation\automation ideas

• Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write the necessary scripts.

• Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.

• Creates technology roadmaps and looks for innovation\automation ideas

• Develops and implements maintenance plans to address technical issues, and seeks opportunities for improvement and efficiency

• Develops time estimates for project deliverables

• Top level technical expert in several highly specialized phases of Platform Services, providing technical support and coaching for junior resources

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience with Linux Operating Systems.

• Solid understanding of the Linux OS and can perform system analysis and tuning.

• Bitbucket – The ability of checking out code, code reviews, doing pull requests and approvals

• Artifactory – Familiar with accessing and finding artifacts.

• Chef – Understands the concepts and can read and do changes to chef cookbooks (uses Ruby/Chef DSL)

• Have hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker

• Hands-on hardware and software Linux Server troubleshooting experience

• You are comfortable programming in at least one object-oriented programming language

• Have a strong understanding of networking concepts like software and hardware load-balancing, clusters, RAID, Intel Server architecture, Firewalls, Routers, SSL, SSH, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, VPN, Routing, and private clouds

• Have a strong desire to automate and eliminate human intervention

Bonus points

• Experience with public cloud providers such as AWS and Azure and their native tools

• Familiarity with tools such as Packer, Vault, Kubernetes, Splunk

• Familiarity with databases, such as Redis, Cassandra, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
