Job Title

Senior Software Engineer (Network as a Service)

Overview

As a member of the Software Defined Networking team, you will own and deliver the code to bring our network to the next level. As a "militantly automated" team, we work in Source Control and let pipelines drive our work. We believe in configuration modeling and defining standards via automation so the tooling can do the heavy lifting for us. You will participate on a high performing team that designs, builds, and runs a new software product that manages network policy and load balancer configuration across all Mastercard data centers.

Role

  • Build and test software to manage network infrastructure and configuration

  • Create and participate in peer code reviews through pull requests

  • Ongoing evaluation and improvement of our software modules

  • Support what we build – either by machine or by hand

  • Work with partners and external vendors to ensure all needs are addressed

  • Work across internal IT teams to resolve complex issues

  • File and follow up on bugs and feature enhancements needed for industrialization of our offerings

  • Document every solution to build an internal Knowledge Base, usable globally

All About You

  • Has a degree or similar in IT / Computer Science

  • Is familiar with driving complex software projects from design and development to ongoing management

  • Can write high quality, secure and clean code following SOLID design principles in multiple programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, C#, Java, JavaScript)

  • Experienced with modern approaches to automated software testing

  • Understanding of CI/CD topics and development methodologies including pipelines, pull requests, git, command line, etc

  • Experience with infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tooling such as Terraform, Chef or Ansible

  • Is comfortable with networking concepts/architecture and has familiarity in routing, switching, NAT and network services such as load balancers

  • Displays willingness and aptitude to learn

  • Has a proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to produce quality technical documentation

  • Has good communication skills and is eager to work on an awesome team
