Overview

Mastercard's Cyber and Security Services team designs and develops cutting edge technologies that detect and prevent fraud around the globe.

This is an Agile team, made up of full stack and data engineering experts. The team also provides leadership for other groups in Mastercard to ensure strong architecture and technology delivery practices that enable the best solutions for our customers and partners.

The Senior Software Development Engineer will play a critical role in the design and development of exciting new products and functionalities.

Role

• Provide detailed designs and solutions to complex business problems.

• Conduct technical analysis of products or applications hardware and software to ensure that business and functional requirements can be met

• Perform analysis of system requirements, elaborate into user stories and acceptance criteria in an Agile methodology format

• Automate build, operate, and run aspects of software

• Drive integration of services, with a focus on customer journey and experience

• Serve as a subject matter expert, providing insights and analysis to deliver new and innovative approaches to the design and development of our systems

• Partner with Product Owners to perform demos/acceptance discussions

• Drive adoption of technology standards, review coding, test and automation work of team members

• Provide technical guidance/mentoring to junior team members

• Build and modify applications using a mix of Java, JavaScript, Python, SQL and Spark

• Ensure quality through comprehensive unit testing, and through close collaboration and partnership with testers and other engineers to ensure requirements are met and tested from end-to-end

All About You

The ideal candidate would have the following PRIMARY skills:

• Proven experience in technical requirements gathering and documentation

• Advanced experience in Java development, design patterns, threading, unit testing, debugging and Spring Boot

• Mid-level experience with REST service design and development

• Experience with or exposure to data analysis

• Background working in a collaborative (Agile) environment

• Strong SQL skills

• Experience with cloud technologies such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry

• Some experience with or exposure to technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and/or Impala

• Some experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Angular or React

• Comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions and seeking help through tools like Teams or Slack

• Experience with queueing technologies such as Kafka (ideal, but not required)
