The Priceless Platform is Mastercard’s B2B2C platform providing a range of experiences, benefits, and others for banks globally, who in turn provide these to their customers. The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and hands-on engineering leader, who, as Director of Engineering, Platform and Reliability, will provide a great developer experience to self-serve and self-manage their code and deliver it with high security and reliability. Your job will be to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with other software engineering teams and help them speed up their time to value and helping them efficiently build, test and deliver and operate secure and reliable services.

You will raise the bar on technical excellence, show thought leadership, demonstrate execution excellence, and communicate well to different audiences. This role can be based in our Mastercard locations in San Francisco, New York, or any other remote US location.


• Lead, supervise and coach a team of engineers to build, test, deploy and support multiple services running in the cloud. Evangelize and embed a culture of engineering excellence

• Lead analysis, integration and enhancements of Developer tooling, Environments, and buildout of standard CI/CD pipelines. Drive the adoption of key engineering best practices to improve quality and reliability of our software

• Provides architectural leadership in building distributed services and databases, plus test & security driven development. Partner with tech leads to ensure developed solutions adhere to established best patterns and our architectural target state. Promote standard software patterns and reuse of common libraries and services

• Partner with product, operational teams to make high-judgment technical decisions.

• Work with engineers on automating integration, load, performance, security, chaos, tests.

• Drive continuous deployment techniques, including monitoring of golden signals and alerting

• Collaborate with partner teams to create strong incident management practices, and incident prevention mechanisms, using 5 Whys, and driving improvements in deployment and product

• Continuously engage and improve teams’ performance by conducting recurring 1-1 meetings, knowing your people, managing career development, and understanding who is at risk

• Provide and facilitate timely feedback, coaching in the moment, and mentoring for staff

• Emulate and drive Mastercard Way behaviors through collaborative behaviors, recognitions, coaching, and employee engagement

• Recruit and hire diverse talent, always bringing in someone better than at least half the individuals in the role in the organization today

All About You

• Proven and passionate Cloud/AWS Engineering technical leadership experience with a track record of delivering complex technical solutions in fast-paced environments

• Direct experience managing high-performing engineering teams in a high-growth and startup environment and collaborating effectively with product teams

• Deep experience building large-scale web services, microservices-based, Kubernetes-orchestrated applications in the cloud environment

• Expertise in architecture patterns and operational characteristic of highly available and scalable applications

• Experience participating & leading code reviews, refactoring, gathering code quality metrics

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong relationship, collaborative and organization skills

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: DevSecOps/CI-CD, Software testing– API's, frameworks, Distributed Systems and Kubernetes

• Deep understanding of AWS with hands-on expertise in automated testing, deployments, operations and securing Cloud for production workloads, ideally in regulated environment

• Strong experience in container-based services and Kubernetes orchestration.

• Experience with deploying and operating distributed, scaled databases

• Experience with software development productivity metrics (e.g., code churn, commit size, test coverage,) and help to continuously improve code velocity, quality, and release frequency

• Practitioner of automation/configuration management, deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, A/B testing, feature flags), and logging and monitoring practices for high availability.


• Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

NYC Salary Range: $194,400 - $301,200

Westchester County Salary Range: $186,300 - $288,650

Remote New York Salary Range: $162,000 - $251,000
