Counsel, Operations & Technology

Overview

MasterCard seeking an attorney to join our in-house legal department in O€™Fallon, Missouri. The challenging position will interface with business managers , clients and other legal professionals and involve providing advice and counsel on general corporate matters with an emphasis on contract drafting, negotiation and management. This position requires a candidate with a transactional contract background and sound business and legal judgment.

Role

Negotiate and draft agreements, and together with Senior Managing Counsel advise clients in our Operations and Technology business on deal structure, interpreting rights and responsibilities and addressing contractual disputes.

Analyze legal issues and commercial risks facing the business and provide proactive and practical solutions.

Coordinate with subject matter experts in legal/privacy, intellectual property, franchise, security, finance, sales, emerging payments and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure products and agreements are consistent with corporate strategy and internal policies and procedures.

Assist with the formation and execution of various business initiatives, including the developing strategies, drafting policies and procedures, creating standard agreements, training, and reviewing associated communications materials.

Collaborate with procurement, IT, finance, HR, and other departments to analyze business and legal contract terms.

All About You

Proficiency in contract drafting and negotiation, experience in commercial practices generally. Interest in corporate governance, and intellectual property welcomed.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills that result in the ability to build relationships and work effectively with employees, clients and vendors.

Must be able to problem solve and assist business leads in finding and implementing appropriate solutions to legal and business issues.

Possess excellent business judgment and the ability to work closely with a variety of global business groups, including: procurement, finance, tax and communications to deliver timely legal advice and drive practical business solutions.

A quick learner capable of working in a team environment but also works well independently, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills in order to handle multiple projects at one time
