Consultant, Corporate Security Platform Services

"Job Overview:

Ability to provide high level technical hardware and software expertise, and effective and timely communication in support of the OS platforms ultimately enhancing MasterCard’s position as a leader in the industry.

Major Accountabilities:

•Design, develop, support and maintain operating system(s) and associated software products acquired or developed to service our customers.

•Lead in planning the direction and implementation of data processing software as they relate primarily to operating systems and systems software.

•Complete status reports, implementations, troubleshooting and create and maintain project plans as required.

•Provide technical leadership/assistance to development programmers and customers to facilitate independent utilization of new and existing software.

•Keep informed of the latest developments in computer software and hardware technology as a basis for evaluations and recommendations that support the business requirements.

•Accurately document duties and procedures to aid the department in cross-training and absentee coverage.

•Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.

•Knowledge of the business and able to see the “big picture”.

•Approve change control forms and keep abreast of all changes affecting the environment.

•Coordinate appropriate training to data center staff.


•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a combination of equivalent experience and formal training/education.

Knowledge / Experience:

•Experience in systems administration.

•Mastery knowledge of operating systems, infrastructure software, communications, computer hardware and peripherals.

•Mastery command of multi-platform OS, communication software and hardware, security software and application subsystems. (Including IBM Mainframe and ACF2 security practices)

Skills/ Abilities:

•Strong inter-personal and communication skills, capable of writing proposals, acting as a vendor liaison, work closely with upper management.

•Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.

•Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write the necessary scripts.

•Solid understanding of the OS and can advise on and perform in-depth system analysis and tuning.

•Solid understanding of networking concepts and how they interrelate with business processes

Work Conditions:

•Ability to adhere to a standard work schedule as defined by department, plus on-call rotation and after hours support and implementation as needed. •Minimal travel."
