Job Title

Vice President, Software Engineering, Data and Services Technology - Locations Insights Program

Overview:

This Vice President (VP) position will provide strategic Engineering and Technical Program leadership for the Locations Insights program. The Locations Insights program is comprised of a portfolio of both new and legacy products and digital services that enable financial institutions and major customers to drive cardholder engagement through utilization of Mastercard’s robust and rich data. Locations Insights is a major revenue generator for the Advisors suite of products within the Data and Services organization. This role is the Engineering Co-Founder for the Locations Insights program and will partner with the Product Co-Founder to ensure that appropriate technical and program trade-offs are made to drive the highest value products to fruition and to provide excellent support for Mastercard’s customers. This role will be the primary voice of the Locations Insights Engineering team and will need to be able to articulate complex Engineering concepts to a variety of senior stakeholders across business units.

This role is within the Data and Services, Technology business unit and will report to the Senior Vice President of the Advisors program group. The Vice President will provide direct management and mentoring to a team of Software Engineers and Project / Program Managers across global geographies. The VP will develop a highly effective operating and organizational model for their direct team and existing vendor relationships, and make sure that their team is working to their peak capabilities while growing in their skills and careers. The VP will also be the primary point of contact for urgent product escalations and will develop a sustainable and effective product escalation model for existing products.

The VP will need to demonstrate a high level of business acumen and be able to make dynamic technical trade-offs to drive highest priority business goals.

Role

•Provide leadership and strategic direction to multiple teams and functional areas. Design an effective and efficient operating and organizational model for the team, focusing on plan, build, and run aspects for all products within the Locations portfolio.

•Develop both short-term and long-term strategic technology roadmaps for the Locations Insights program. Ensure commitments for build of new products are achieved and that optimal technology decisions are made.

•Develop a robust escalation plan for operational issues and escalations.

•Oversee both technical and program aspects of the Locations portfolio. Develop meaningful KPIs for the program and ensure that goals are met or achieved.

•Primary technical point of contact for Product team and drive collaboration across technical and product teams.

•Ensure that all products in the Locations Insights portfolio are current with Mastercard infrastructure, data, and security standards.

•Ensure approved staffing levels are maintained, departmental and staff education, training and cross training needs are met.

•Ensure that staff has skills and behaviors to perform tasks fully through effective communication of goals, objectives, performance and, as necessary, improvement plans. Drive and encourage technical innovation on the team.

•Provide ongoing technical and program communication to senior stakeholders within Data and Services (D&S), Operations and Technology (O&T), and Global Product Management (GPM).

•Ensure compliance to quality methodology and development of quality metrics by the team. Create guidelines, processes and standards to ensure high overall quality of product and incident free deployment. Maintain and drive the highest levels of quality for all Locations Insights products.

•Provide appropriate resources and budget to deliver timely, effective, efficient and predictable processing services and continuing improvement of performance.

•Respond to operational and business concerns or issues relative to future business programs, projects, or enhancements to ensure consistent delivery of quality services.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in related technical functional area. Advanced degree or continuing education in general business concepts highly desirable.

All About You

•Experience in Mastercard’s Data and Services or Operations and Technology organizations is a plus.

•Experience managing large, cross-functional distributed teams in a technology setting. Ability to motivate a team and to mentor and develop team members to perform to their full potential while creating meaningful career growth opportunities.

•Extensive experience and understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies and Data principles.

•High strategic and business acumen, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into concrete deliverables.

•Proven ability to lead large complex projects and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all areas of Technology Operations, Corporate Groups and outside solution providers.

•Ability to make technical trade-offs and to drive priority of Engineering deliverables with demonstrated business acumen.

•Experience defining infrastructure requirements and partnering with infrastructure teams to build scalable data solutions.

•Experience developing and managing departmental budgets covering multiple discipline areas.

•8+ years of experience in related field, with progressively increasing responsibility.

•Proven verbal and written communications skills are a requirement for this role and experience with the following deliverables is critical: requirements documents, design documents, and project financial analysis. Ability to explain and deliver compelling rationale for technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.

•Maintain and demonstrate high level of self-awareness, energy and enthusiasm, and alignment with Mastercard’s core values.
