Director, Merchant Token-on-File Strategy


The role is part of the global product management team, responsible for setting product strategy, roadmap, and priorities across Mastercard's digital payment products including the Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) €“ our tokenization platform securing Mastercard credentials across all digital channels; and Masterpass €“ our digital wallet securing checkout online, in-app and in-store.

You will join the merchant team specifically responsible for the strategy and product management of new and existing initiatives for merchants, creating compelling new services and use cases for merchants to drive Mastercard transactions.

Lead and execute the merchant token-on-file strategy for digital payments to replace every Mastercard card-on-file in every online checkout experience with a secure digital token.

Identify key use cases across Mastercard digital products, conduct market research, competitive analysis, define strategy, create opportunities for industry standardization, and ultimately launch new Mastercard token-on-file services to market.

Create and manage the product plan, build new product capabilities, lead cross-functional teams to execute end-to-end on strategy.

Create visual, engaging, and easy-to-use product collateral including product specifications, training materials, implementation guides, presentation slides, sales and marketing brochures.

Be the product champion for your initiatives and Mastercard digital products, acting as subject matter expert representing the global product team to train internal teams, and externally represent Mastercard at customer meetings, industry trade shows and events.

Collaborate with internal and external customers including merchants, issuers, digital partners, acquirers, mobile network operators, mobile device manufacturers to develop and launch products and services.

All About You

Strong product management experience with excellent business acumen, strategic thinking, people management and relationship building skills.

Strong technical competency in technology, user experiences, web services, architecture, APIs and payment networks; able to understand complex technical concepts, business needs, competitive offering and industry trends and apply them to real-world problems to deliver products and solutions.

Proven record of writing concise and accurate documentation with thorough attention to detail.

Excellent verbal communication, comfortable presenting, influencing and negotiating at senior management level, able to shift gears for audiences from different business disciplines of varying technical ability.

Strong work ethic and highly organized, holding self and others to high standards, able to work autonomously and as part of a team, fostering a positive team culture in line with Mastercard values of trust, partnership, agility and initiative.

Strong leadership skills with experience in directly and indirectly managing teams across a global organizational structure.

Agile mindset to product management, project management and software development with experience in agile methodologies.

Knowledge and experience in mobile, software architecture, EMV, contactless, magnetic stripe, PCI-DSS, Global Platform, transaction authorization and clearing processing advantageous.

Engineering, Computer Science degree or equivalent advantageous.
