General Overview

This is a relevant position within the account managing team responsible to manage and develop selected accounts in the Portuguese Market. On parallel, manages the relation within cross-functional teams in order to build value for the customers, being able either to respond at any time to their needs, as well as anticipate needs, using our products and services.

In this role, he/she will be a key counterpart for Mastercard stakeholders in Portugal, like banks, payment service providers, acquiring companies, merchants, and other verticals. This person will work with a cross-functional team of Business Development, Sales and Product Management to generate new partnerships for Mastercard and increase Mastercard share of business.

This is a customer-facing role which requires exceptional and strong business development skills, strategic selling and relationship management along with the ability to quantify opportunities, develop concepts and deliver solutions.

Role

• Plans customer activities, identifies needs and aligns with our internal strategy objectives.

• Responsible for setting sales strategies as it relates to customer accounts that are aligned with geography strategy and achieving sales goals that drive market share, volume and revenue growth.

• Defines own objectives and builds execution plans, while leading and managing existing customer relationships and working to identify opportunities and customer needs.

• Knows Mastercard products and services to practices consultative sales

• Engages with cross-functional teams to develop compelling solutions for customers

• Builds and negotiates (internally and with customer) business deals agreement

• Partners with customers to deliver customized solutions and comprehensive consulting support

• Responsible for pipeline management at the account level.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of sales and net revenue targets.

• Performs analysis of customer’s business through profitability modeling, financial forecasting and competitive analysis

• Designs strategies, messaging and proposals for customers.

• Assists in local projects and cross-functional initiatives.

• Leverage all Mastercard brand sponsorship properties and product management resources to deliver exceptional customer value.

• Responsible for all administrative and operational issues for the account planning and budget/expense management.

• Knowledge of the Portuguese payments’ environment and ecosystem.

• Connections and relationship in the market across industries.

• Account management skills, sales experience and/or consulting background.

• Demonstrate multi-disciplinary knowledge, i.e., marketing, operations, finance, and emerging technologies.

• Track record in achieving sales targets and building customer relationships.

• Business development skills and mindset, problem solving, analytics, and business sense.

• Solid inter-personal and communication skills, both in Portuguese and English written and oral (fluent in English is mandatory and knowledge of Spanish is an advantage).

• Team-player with hands-on attitude.

• Strong ability to develop customer relationships and deriving business opportunities out of an in-depth understanding of customer needs.

• Influencing and communication skills with client management.

• Knowledge of Mastercard's core products, rules, and services.
