The Mastercard Builders’ Cloud team in Mastercard’s Architecture & Technology division is leading the way to deliver a great experience for our developers around the globe. We are doing this by building and operating a holistic set of Cloud based services and tooling that free our developers from incidental complexity, enabling them to focus on delivering value. The ideal candidate has advanced experience developing distributed systems and building automation and CI/CD processes to delivery applications to on-prem infrastructure and public cloud.

Work on complex enterprise-wide initiatives spanning multiple services/programs and drives resolution
Collaborate with product ownership to identify gaps in capabilities, set direction and prioritize work
Contribute and lead Software Guild initiatives to improve the craftmanship of Software Engineering
Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies
Venture beyond comfort zone to take on assignments across different areas of Software Engineering
Take on organization-wide and public speaking engagements and publishes white papers and blogs on relevant and emerging technical topics
Consult across teams and across program lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
Write recommendations for job promotions based on an unbiased view of one's accomplishments
Conduct technical interviews for hiring engineering staff and raising the performance bar
As a Builders Cloud team Principal Engineer you will provide the technical leadership to deliver a great experience to Mastercard’s Software Development Community. Your responsibilities will include:
Working on a cross-functional and geographically distributed team to make our developer tooling awesome
Providing strategic thinking and drives technical architecture & strategy for our developer tooling
Engaging with the Mastercard Development Community to ensure we understand their needs and incorporate them into our service offerings and roadmap
Ensuring that the team adheres to Mastercard Engineering Principles, Builders’ Tools development standards and Corporate Security guidelines
Collaborating with teams across Builders Enablement program incorporating services such as Application Frameworks and Builders' Bootstrapping to deliver an end-to-end developer experience
Consulting with senior management and highest-level developers and infrastructure specialists, influencing and defining advanced development directions
All About You
Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Expert, applied knowledge in resilient and scalable architecture patterns and design
Passionate DevSecOps advocate with expert, applied knowledge in modern, secure CI/CD practices and build systems
Advanced experience with multiple object-oriented languages and/or functional languages
Advanced knowledge of Cloud platforms including Azure and AWS
Advanced understanding of HTTP and building RESTful Web Services
Practical experience in Networking technologies (TCP/IP, HTTP(S), DNS)
Ability to decompose complicated problems into well-understood and management units
Passion for developing secure and high-quality software and an active participant in the Software Development Engineering Community
Assertiveness to challenge the team to continually improve
Practical understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
Experience in optimizing code for performance and responsiveness
