Lead Software Engineer Web Development

Overview

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to work on Priceless.com, which is the consumer and partner hub for Mastercard. It provides access to benefits, offers, and unforgettable experiences exclusively for hundreds of millions of Mastercard cardholders. Our mission is make using a Mastercard something Priceless.

Role

As Lead Software Engineer, you are a key player on the Development team. You will apply your broad knowledge of modern web software and cloud technologies to build leading edge, easy-to-use web interfaces, applications, and services, and help run our global cloud server infrastructure that drive our future product enhancements. We are looking for motivated, hands-on individuals who will proactively seek ways to improve our software architecture and development process, and grow the capabilities of our engineering team.

All About You

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, Master’s Degree desirable

• Ideally have good experience with web programming including: PHP, Python, Javascript, MySQL, HTML, CSS, AJAX

• Strong leadership skills and high EQ

• Strong people management skills to keep engineering team productive, motivated, and happy

• Can organize complicated projects and simplify complexity

• The ability to work and collaborate well with a diverse group of co-workers and corporate partners, understand customer needs, and develop solutions to meet those needs.

• Strong software architecture skills

• Ability to handle scalability and performance issues in web applications on an advanced global AWS cloud server infrastructure

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to function well in a dynamic, agile, fast-moving environment

• Desire and ability to do hands on software development and some dev ops server automation - can lead by doing

• Ideally have experience with PHP Web Application Frameworks (especially Yii Framework), Angular, Backbone, etc.

• A plus if experience setting up server infrastructure before (bonus if on AWS), Bash scripting, MySQL administration/replication

• Interest in secure coding practices and web security

COVID-19 Considerations

In many locations, which may change over time, we’ve implemented a virtual hiring process and continue to interview candidates by video or phone.
