Job Title

Consultant Software Engineer , Payment Gateway Services

€‹Overview

Mastercard Payment Gateway Services is a payment service provider. We offer merchants around the world an omni-channel payment gateway with integrated services (e.g. fraud risk management, alternative payment methods, currency conversion) while reducing their exposure to pain (chargebacks, PCI-DSS compliance etc.).

Using proven modern technologies we deliver challenging and rewarding projects in an open, collaborative environment where each solution demands high-availability, security, and scalability. We pride ourselves on working hard to deliver projects on time, to a high standard, and doing so without an overtime culture.

For great engineers we offer generous rewards and a clear career progression. This is a fast-paced and dynamic team where individual projects are short and varied - production systems are updated regularly. Dedicated operations and support teams allow you to concentrate on getting the job done.

Benefits of our modern air-conditioned office include powerful dual screen workstations and dedicated virtualization and automated test servers, while the facilities include showers, excellent public transport links, covered bike parking and a subsidized canteen.

Job Synopsis

As part of a co-located Scrum agile team of 4-6 engineers, you will develop, test and deliver all software relating to our transaction engines, reporting tools and internal support systems.

You have excellent object-oriented software engineering skills €“ framework knowledge is great, but strength in the fundamentals is essential.

You work effectively under your own direction, from ideation to deployment - but as a senior engineer you are also comfortable mentoring others and working closely with your Scrum team, as well as with other teams around the globe.

What does success look like?

A five nines platform that handles hundreds of concurrent transactions, year in year out

Extending our system to touch more transactions never takes as long as expected

It€™s easy to give and receive feedback on adventurous changes as you work

The product team can€™t stop smiling

You aren€™t here after hours

About You

You have a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Ideally you are already a master of:

Java 8 / Spring / Mockito

RESTful web services, JSON, distributed systems architecture

Security concerns such as OWASP Top 10 and PCI DSS

APACS, ISO 8583, EMV or other card payment standards

Postgres or MySQL (Cassandra an advantage)

Git, BitBucket / Stash and a CI server (Jenkins)

Puppet / Chef and a Linux OS (RHEL or Oracle)

This isn€™t an exhaustive list and none of the above is essential.

You probably aren€™t a master of C, but we have significant existing assets that we occasionally need to maintain and extend, and you€™re excited about helping us out with that too.
