Senior Counsel (Fixed Term Contract)


Mastercard’s New Payments Platforms (NPP) division is driving innovation and growth to meet today’s demands for simple, certain, fast, and secure domestic and international account-to-account payments and related services. The NPP division is responsible for the delivery of the payments infrastructure that underpins many of the G20 economies as well as a suite of payment applications and services, including bill payment, funds disbursement, global remittances, and gateway services. NPP is building a portfolio of integrated assets and capabilities designed to service key verticals and multiple payment experiences. Through a single connection, we provide to our partners the ability to reach a variety of endpoints—account, card, mobile wallet, or cash payout—nearly anywhere in the world.

As Senior Counsel on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave, you will be a member of the Law & Franchise Integrity (LFI) team supporting the NPP division. You will take a major role in handling commercial and product development, identifying relevant issues and helping the business navigate legal risks and implement appropriate controls, policies, and processes.

This role is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

All About You

• A qualified lawyer with a solid academic and training background

• Fluent in Danish (Norwegian is a plus)

• Licensed to practice law in Denmark

• Experience across a range of commercial contracts and the ability to

analyze and identify the core legal issues

• Strong drafting, writing, oral communication and negotiating skills

• Previous experience working as in-house lawyer
