Director, Software Engineering

MasterCard Payment Services is recruiting a Director of Software Engineering to lead software engineering teams developing digital billpay products and platforms. Our teams leverage agile development principles, advanced development and design practices, and an obsession over security, reliability, and performance to deliver solutions that delight our customers.

Hands-on technical leader who brings considerable experience in driving software quality practices leveraging CI/CD quality gates and frameworks that enable best in class developer experience

Identify and recruit talent to build a world class software engineering team

Collaborate with other teams to deliver results

Consistently raise standards, insisting on incremental and continuous improvements

About You:

You are a hands-on, technical and people leader able to manage directly and through others.

You have extensive experience in delivering CI/CD tools and frameworks to enable developer experience for teams and quality gates for global products.

As a technically astute leader, your recognized subject matter expertise allows you regularly dive deep into everything your teams do.

Your leadership style is based on building trust with your team, your peers, and your management.

You possess strong communication skills - both verbal and written – and are able to get your point across efficiently to a wide range of audiences.

You are obsessed with results, and effectively communicate objectives and how success will be measured to your teams and other stakeholders.

You have strong decision-making skills and a bias for action rather than drawn-out analysis because you understand that most decisions are not irreversible.

You regularly lead retrospection and continually improve as a result.

You have strong collaborative and organizational skills and value transparency over avoiding scrutiny.

You understand how to guide a team member’s career, including performance evaluation, coaching, and motivation.

You are an experienced manager able to evaluate and coach team members.

You have expert level knowledge of software development processes, and you practice agility at an advanced level.

You are an experienced user of one or more Application Lifecycle Management tools (e.g., Rally, Jira).

COVID-19 Considerations

We value the safety of each member of our community because we know we’re all in this together. In many locations, which may change over time, we’ve implemented a virtual hiring process and continue to interview candidates by video or phone. In addition, in some locations, only individuals who have been fully vaccinated will be permitted inside Mastercard offices until further notice.

In the US, Mastercard is a government contractor, which may legally require most Mastercard employees to be vaccinated unless a verified approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
