We are looking for an experienced technical program management professional to join our team and help us build towards the future. Our Technical Program Managers (TPM) conceptualize, rationalize, and drive multiple simultaneous projects to deliver engineering work across the portfolio in our scrum execution model. In this role, you will contribute to the strategies, design choices, and even the cloud infrastructure necessary to build comprehensive believable and achievable execution plans to deliver high-profile new features and capabilities.

Role

• Organize and accelerate a group of related technology projects or activities across multiple teams, aligning dependent organizations. Identify and remove blockers and always find the path forward in challenging situations bringing clarity to situation.

• Trusted to operate with complete independence and focus on ambiguous areas. Work with ambiguity and with limited guidance. The business outcome, program, and/or product strategy is defined, but nothing else is. Be able to get the project in motion or into a calm and predictable delivery pattern.

• Creates the correct sense of urgency for delivery.

• Identifies and fills gaps between regions, architectures, and organizations. Work sets the example for others to follow. Manages escalations.

• Manages across the portfolio assessing business/technical trade-offs while working across organizations for ways to align teams, technologies (i.e, the infrastructure used to build/deploy/operate services), and organizations into approaches that optimize organizational structures and operating mechanisms.

• Adept at building consensus and leading resolution of contentious issues.

• Decomposes complex processes into simple straight forward solutions.

• Force multiplier - educates the larger TPM and engineering community on best practices within (organization, location, program). Contributions are noteworthy and recognized across Mastercard (i.e. bottleneck reduction, engineer efficiency, product quality)

• Creates mechanisms to effectively report out and control execution. Recognize complexity and create predictable delivery paths for large and/or complex efforts. Measurably improve, streamline, and/or eliminate excess processes. Utilize cross organizational mechanisms to describe and drive continuous improvements.

• Understands the business strategy and design approaches within product, program, or domain with depth to be credible and effective with teams they work with. Can competently represent team’s services

• Understand the needs of the engineers and technical operations teams who have to build, maintain, and operate the services and technical assets. Plays active role in mentoring and recruiting others

All About You

• Advanced technical program delivery or project management experience. Ability to drive and influence transformational change in the evolution of our end-to-end product delivery using agile development methodology

• Demonstrated experience breaking down problems, organizing work, planning sprints, creating roadmaps and delivering technical programs in agile delivery models (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

• Demonstrated ability to operate with independence and autonomy

• Be the first point of contact for your team or area and the source of truth for status providing the right information and associated data about the state of the project to the right audience at the right time.

• Transform raw thoughts into clear and concise communications/instructions to the teams. Can communicate with confidence 3+ levels up.

• Keep abreast of evolving technology landscape. Ask the right questions to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of designs (scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity, etc.)

• Proven track record of data-driven decision-making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams

• Demonstrated experience building relationships, partnering with and influencing dependent teams while commanding the respect of the individuals you work with across the organization

• Ability to debate the delivery strategy with business teams, architects, engineers, and designers

• Ability to communicate to executives, peers, and staff with impact, eloquence, and authenticity

• Experience working on programs to define and build cloud-native software products as a platform at scale

• Knowledge and experience of working with JIRA/Rally required

• Desire to dive deep to understand the platforms' capabilities and underlying technologies

• BS in engineering, computer science, related discipline, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Completed Certifications (Agile, DevOps, Cloud Computing, Java, etc.) preferred, or equivalent work experience
