Secure Software Engineer
Mastercard is creating a world class secure software development capability and we are looking for an agile team player to own and drive the delivery of repeatable processes and tools that support secure software development processes. This role will be part of the Business Security Enablement team and will report to the VP of Information Security Engineering.
Can you design processes and effective workflows, that help teams perform repeatable secure software engineering tasks more efficiently?
Can you advise development teams and third-party providers on how to securely design applications and services following industry best practices?
Can you analyze an application architecture to reduce the security risk to an acceptable level, while still providing beneficial functionality for the end user?
Can you demonstrate a high level of expertise in the software development, architecture and engineering disciplines?
Can you operate independently with minimum supervision?
Can you solve problems creatively?
Establish Mastercard’s security posture for using of open-source software and 3rd party libraries
Influence design and/or implementation choices for third-party software in areas such as application, networking, OS and Cloud
Participate and in some cases lead cross-functional group of people with different functional expertise toward a common goal of managing 3rd party software in use by Mastercard.
Maintain technical documentation
All About You
Well versed in application secure design principles, OWASP top 10, and secure coding techniques
Experience with SCA, SAST, DAST and/or IAST capabilities
Experience with relevant attack patterns, and types of vulnerabilities that an attacker may exploit and defensive techniques to mitigate them
Ability to understand software design and recommend security controls across multiple aspects of security engineering principles
Demonstrate the ability to articulate and communicate effectively to diverse audiences and properly translate security and risk management terminology into business terms, and recommends alternative solutions to these stakeholders
Experience of continuous delivery/continuous integration (CI/CD) processes and procedures including critical security considerations in automated workflows a plus
Previous software engineering experience with Java or similar enterprise programming language a plus
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
