Manager, Technical Program Management

Position Title: Manager, Technical Program Management

As a member of the Software Delivery team in Arlington, you will be responsible for leading efforts spanning teams that build tools and systems that deploy and scale our applications and data in hybrid - cloud and physical - environments. We develop the infrastructure that enables the Data & Services Technology team to build, test, deploy and host hundreds of microservices across several global data centers. We also develop the logging, monitoring and vulnerability detection tools necessary for application developers to get insight into the security, quality and uptime of their code. Our systems are administered with infrastructure-as-code with our stack including Chef, Ansible and Terraform and our workflows are automated using Jenkins and Kubernetes

Our teams are small and flexible/autonomous. Every team member contributes to designing, building, and testing features. There are no rigid organizational structures, and each team uses processes that work the best for that team members and projects.

TPMs are expected to lead large efforts that span multiple teams, collaborate on releases with our stakeholders and be highly engaged with our roadmap and quarterly goal setting process. In addition, the manager role is expected to provide mentorship and identify career development opportunities for team members.

ABOUT YOU

  • History of team and/or technical project leadership

  • Experience architecting and deploying software products in physical/cloud based environments with a deep understanding of those platforms capabilities and underlying technologies.

  • Demonstrated experience breaking down problems, organizing work, planning sprints, and delivering technical programs in agile delivery models

  • Demonstrated ability to operate with independence and autonomy

  • Enjoys diving deep to understand of the platforms capabilities and underlying technologies.

  • Proven track record of data driven decision-making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams

  • Can communicate to executives, peers, and stakeholders with impact, eloquence, and authenticity

  • Demonstrated experience building relationships, partnering with and influencing dependent teams while commanding the respect of the individuals you work with across the organization

  • Huge plus if you have expertise in CI/CD, microservices APIs, and industry standard tooling like Jenkins, Kubernetes, Splunk etc

  • Superior academic record with a degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
