MasterCard Manager - Data Governance in Arizona

Job Title

Manager - Data Governance

The Manager, Information Governance is responsible for helping enable information-based innovation that ensure responsible and trusted data-driven decisions. This role will apply the existing data governance framework; including Data Policy, standards, guidelines, and processes to a newly acquired entity, Ekata, and ensure consistent and compliance uses of this data. Requires close engagement with business, privacy, and technical SMEs to ensure smooth adoption of this new data set into the global organization. Establishes the data governance program for Ekata to ensure ongoing and consistent management of data as a critical corporate asset.

The Manager will be responsible for:

• Conducting data analysis on Ekata’s data set, which consists of fraud prevention and customer identity verification data to identify gaps in compliance to existing data governance artifacts and then leading the work necessary to bring data activities under compliance within the specified data governance framework.

• Knowledge of fraud prevention and consumer identity verification data as well as familiarity with PII/sensitive data anonymization.

• Liaising with internal teams such as Privacy and Data Strategy to identify and document requirements to ensure data obtained from Ekata is being used in a compliant manner and create/provide data-related training to educate relevant employees on these usage requirements.

• Partnering with data management teams on the implementation of data quality, metadata and lineage, data sourcing and usage, data issue management requirements.

• Developing guidelines that can be leveraged by federated teams as they apply data policy and data standards.

• Creating internal processes such as data controls that will be adopted across the enterprise.

• Tracking and monitoring the implementation of data controls across the organization.

• Supporting the process to document data flows as well as identify stakeholders to drive ongoing embedment of the data governance program within the consumer data domain as part of a of a Community of Interest stewardship program.

• Providing status reports to senior management on the progress and implementation of the data governance program for the Ekata dataset.


• Successfully contributed or led efforts to establish a data governance framework, including active participation in data stewardship-type organization

• Proven track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment often with ambiguity and the need to make decisions with less than perfect information

• Prior experience implementing data management (e.g., data governance, data quality, data profiling, metadata, and lineage) in either a local area or across an organization, preference for experience related to the data collection, usage, sharing, and retention of personally identifiable data.

• High degree of organization, individual initiative and personal accountability and resiliency. Working knowledge of emerging technologies, data processes, and product solutions that enable commerce

• Experienced communications to a variety of audiences, including C-level executives.

• Experience in the creation and implementation of enterprise-wide processes.
