Senior Vice President, Market Development - Canada
The Senior Vice President Market Development is a senior leadership position directly reporting to the President, Canada and is a core member of Canada Leadership Team, providing strategic direction, oversight, and overall accountability to drive results for Canadas Market Development function. The successful candidate will be a role model for leadership agility; will uphold MasterCards core values and be a strong collaborative team player.
The position has lead responsibility across Canada for managing all aspects of market development and delivering stretch business sales targets/goals in the following areas.
Non-traditional business development (e.g. Mobile, Telco, Transit)
Strategy, Pricing & Interchange.
Expert Product Sales (e.g. Prepaid)
Managing a team of experienced industry professionals, the Senior Vice President must ensure clear alignment and delivery with agreed business strategies and objectives. The Group Head must demonstrate extensive subject matter expertise, industry thought leadership and multi-territory business experience. Capability in defining the strategy for all areas of responsibility and working collaboratively with stakeholders and to drive its implementation is essential.
Initiate high-level, interactive conversations with key decision makers around new or emerging product opportunities
Analyze customers existing business through profitability modeling, financial forecasting and competitive analysis and determine opportunities for additional revenue
Develop long-term growth strategies to optimize mutual profitability across all business lines
Lead team of business development experts to strategically articulate value propositions to close new business opportunities
Develop and present financial modeling and business cases to key decision makers at targeted customers
Negotiate, execute and manage the customer contract agreement process, ensuring global linkage of resources and information sharing
All About You:
Strong understanding and/or experience of the acquiring business
Understanding MasterCard products and services (or ability to learn these quickly).
Deep knowledge of industry trends and developments, emerging technologies, markets and opportunities. Understanding customer and constituent needs, marketplace dynamics, industry trends and the competitive landscape.
A proven leader who is results driven and who takes a disciplined approach to achieve results.
Track record of initiating new approaches to doing business and driving their implementation to deliver tangible business results.
Strong and proven experience in the card and payments industry.
Ability to identify issues before they develop into problems; proactively resolve issues directly or through escalation to appropriate partners.
Experience working across multiple levels and functions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner; able to effectively deliver messages both verbally and in writing
Progressive business experience in banking (e.g. Cards) and/or payments industry, with demonstrated success of driving profitable business growth.
