Retail Managing Consultant

Mastercard Advisors, the professional services arm of Mastercard Worldwide, provides payments-focused consulting, marketing, information and risk management services to financial institutions and merchants worldwide.

The Retail Managing Consultant (MC) is responsible for team and client engagement management. This individual will help build the retail consulting services practice in North America, leveraging their analytic experience and retail market knowledge to identify new services and solve for client needs.

The MC will actively contribute to the Advisors business in the following ways:

Leads Project Engagements:

Drives the development of strategies and programs for large, strategically important regional and global retail clients

Independently defines area of analysis, synthesizes own insights and identifies relevant implications

Identifies and proactively manages engagement risks

Owns the development of engagement recommendations - prepares and delivers presentations to client and other key stakeholders

Manages & Develops Internal Resources:

Skillfully manages engagement resources by delegating and overseeing all project-related work

Proactively shares best practices and engagement learning amongst team members

Actively participates in and contributes to talent development, management and recruiting

Leads by example - is a valued and respected member of the Advisors team

Contributes to Advisors€™ Business Process and Practice Development:

Energetically participates in the rapid growth of the Advisors retail consulting services business by identifying and working towards areas of improvement to business process and strategy

Contributes to client account plans, business proposal preparation and on-sell work from previous engagements

Adheres to all consulting processes including weekly time reporting and forecasting

Educates the broader Mastercard business on Advisors retail consulting services capabilities and engagements

Proactively Manages Key Stakeholders & Corresponding Needs:

Develops day-to-day working relationship with all engagement stakeholders (clients, account management, business development)

Leverages understanding of clients€™ needs and agenda to provide creative input into project engagements

Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams throughout Mastercard€™s Global Products and Services (e.g. Marketing, Emerging Payments, Core Products, etc)

Identifies and Delivers Retail Knowledge & Insights:

Supports intellectual capital development from client work and incorporate insights from related project research and initiatives (e.g. develops relevant industry POVs, contributes to white papers, etc)

All About You

Demonstrated experience in the areas of:

Retail, CPG or consumer products consulting expertise €“ advising retail or consumer products clients on corporate strategy, customer segmentation, loyalty, customer experience, competitive benchmarking, etc.

Robust knowledge of North American retail landscape

Previous customer intelligence / analytics experience

Broad understanding of emerging retail trends and shift to digital

Experience synthesizing customer and transaction data into coherent, tangible recommendations

Strong undergraduate degree required (MBA preferred).

Management consulting experience or retail analytics required.

Direct retail, CPG or consumer products consulting services experience preferred.

Understanding of the role payments play in retail setting

Superior verbal and written communication skills

Excellent analytical skills and fluency in Microsoft Excel

Ability to work on a team or independently

Self-motivator/Self-starter

Some travel is required (20-25%)
