Senior Vice President, Strategy, Pricing and Interchange


The team

The International Markets (IMK) Pricing and Interchange team provides guidance, transparency and expertise in developing global pricing and interchange strategies across 200+ countries and territories for both current and new products & services

The team develops and implements proposals that drive our business and product strategy and delivers profitable growth for MasterCard

The team also works collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across MasterCard to act as a global team on cross-cutting issues: sharing best practices, taking the network perspective across products and regions, and ensuring consistency where needed

The position

This position will play a key role in:

oDeveloping & implementing pricing and interchange strategies, for both our traditional business and emerging opportunities

oAccelerating the IMK Enterprise Partnerships team commercialization efforts by developing scalable economic models for new business opportunities (e.g., B2B spend, business development to attract new pools of volume, etc.)

oBuilding new tools to inform how we set our pricing and interchange, and

oConducting analysis as needed on strategic questions & issues

Position reports to the President, IMK Enterprise Partnerships, and will be based in Purchase, NY

Partner with regional pricing teams, account/sales leaders, product development/management, legal, operations and other stakeholders to determine appropriate, value-driven pricing & interchange for new MasterCard products and services

Develop pricing and interchange strategies and structures that reflect the shift in consumer behavior and the introduction of new technology, such as P2P, mobile payments and tokenization, etc.

Build models and frameworks for assessing pricing and interchange through: competitive benchmarking vs. traditional and emerging payments providers, comparison vs. alternatives (e.g., cash/check) and the value created and delivered to each part of the four-party system

Lead and develop a high-performing team of 6 full-time employees

Conduct strategic analysis and research to create actionable insights €“ e.g.,

oEvaluate key product portfolios (e.g., affluent, corporate, etc).

oIdentify opportunities for MasterCard in non-traditional spaces (e.g., small merchants, low/high value tickets, new acceptance verticals, and new business development opportunities for our network, etc.)

oDevelop competitive insights based on market/external trends (e.g., competitors, changes in technology, etc.)

Act as the IMK subject matter expert for both internal and external parties on Mastercard€™s pricing and interchange.

All About You

Bachelor€™s degree, with preference for quantitative focus. Advanced degree desirable, e.g. CPA, MBA

Experience leading and developing strategic and quantitative analysis on bankcard industry pricing and interchange.

Solid understanding of the end to end card economics within the bankcard industry, e.g. Issuing, Acquiring, Merchant, MA, competitive brands, etc.

Ability to oversee multiple projects and initiatives concurrently

Senior level presentation and communication skills

Self-motivated with a proven track record of delivering success while operating within a team environment

Limited global travel as needed
