Director - Mobile Point of Sale -MPOS and Point of Interaction

The Global acceptance and solutions team is responsible for ensuring merchants of all sizes will continue to play an essential role in the payments ecosystem and in the success of MasterCard. The team will work with Enterprise Safety and Solutions, Advisors, MPGS, Franchise among others to help MasterCard increase acceptance, gain preference, win deals and bring added value to the relationships with merchants. Together with IMK/NAM Merchant and Acceptance Teams, O&T and GP&S around the globe, the team will look beyond current strategies to build our relevance in the marketplace and to expand acceptance. The charter of the group includes building new products and solutions, navigating new business models, new technologies and new partners that will help MasterCard expand its competitive advantage with merchants and acquirers as well as commercialize and enhance merchant offerings.

The MPOS and POI unit is focused on those two areas: increasing MPOS acceptance and evolution of the Point of Interaction - POI. This includes identifying ways to increase MPOS acceptance, looking at new technologies and new business models at the POI, such as cloud based devices which facilitate switching of transaction different from traditional players.

The Director €“ MPOS and POI, will have responsibility for leading efforts to identify ways to make it easier for merchants to accept payments via MPOS, understand merchant acceptance best practices, pain points, and potential solutions to enable frictionless commerce and better consumer experience. He/she will formulate to develop solutions for POI, as both consumers and merchants embrace new forms of payments such as contactless, mobile, and omni-channel.

Do you have a solid experience of POS devices including EMV, Contactless, MPOS, Smart POS?

Do you have a solid understanding of the merchant acceptance environment, and the various stakeholders in the value chain such as ISOs, ISVs?

High level knowledge of merchant strategies for atleast 2-3 verticals e.g. grocery, fuel, FNB etc.

Can you deal with highly fragmented structures in different markets and map out an user experience that is better for most consumers and merchants?

Do you have a passion to make a difference in people€™s daily lives as they make purchases?

Can you work in a cross-functional environment with limited support?

Can you deal with ambiguity, complexity and explain things in simple terms that the novice can understand?

Role:

The role of the Director, MPOS and POI, is to:

Device and manage programs to drive acceptance in markets through MPOS

o Apply EMV, Contactless, Mobile payment experience to design and develop new MPOS solutions

o Introduce new rules and standards for MPOS devices to support expansion of contactless and EMV transactions

o Apply Product Management Excellence practices to new product management and development

o Develop GTM strategy for new products

Strong knowledge of the POI environment, existing and emerging

o Understand and assess current acceptance practices around the world and the major variations

o Strong understanding of distributed architecture, Middleware design

o Knowledge of POI evolution trends

o Understand the product roadmaps of consumer devices and advise product teams on product designs that takes into consideration merchant acceptance.

o Advocate for merchants within merchants and communicate how we as a company can better serve the merchant community with its acceptance experience

All About You:

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

o Deep understanding of security requirements including PCI, SRED

o Deep understanding of EMV and contactless transactions

o Deep understanding of mobile architecture including TEE, SE, ESE

o Strong knowledge of terminal approval processes

o Strong knowledge of mobile payments

o Familiarity of merchant checkout operations

o Strong knowledge of the POI environment, existing and emerging

o Prior experience in developing rules or standards

o Prior experience in organizing and managing global programs

o Strong understanding of distributed architecture, Middleware design

o Highly collaborative individual who can manage relationships across multiple functional areas, geographic locations and career levels
