Business Leader, Travel Services, Americas
The Global Travel Services team manages MasterCards employee business travel program on a global basis, encompassing over 60 countries worldwide and $100M in spend. The team is responsible for management of the global travel agency, travel policy and compliance, travel supplier relationships, customer service, and driving process and cost efficiencies and risk management. The travel program facilitates the process of doing business globally across all business units and departments.

The role will focus on operational excellence of the corporate travel management program, as well as provide strategic alignment to MasterCards partners in the travel space, including airlines, hotels, rental car, booking and expense management tools. The individual plays a significant financial role, being responsible for oversight of over $45MM in travel expenditures, satisfaction of more than 5000 corporate travelers, excellent travel experience, for the region of the Americas, which includes North, Central and South America. The role is responsible for providing a valuable service to the companys travelers, ensuring travel is both safe and productive. The individual will be expected to bring market trend intelligence and thought leadership that will enable cost reduction in the corporate travel space.
Design, implement, and manage the employee travel strategy & operations across Americas.
Responsible to oversee travel requirements of employees (and related travelers) and to ensure timely and cost effective customer service is delivered
Ensure financial controls: manage and negotiate travel-related services to provide measurable financial benefits to the corporation, measure and analyze travel expenditures to identify opportunities for savings and cost avoidance, as well as track and recover all commissions from regional travel expenditures.
Produce management reports and create awareness of travel spend and compliance trends among senior management
Identify process improvements, incl develop green travel practices
Set and manage departmental budget for the assigned Region
Implement an annual business plan
Lead the integration of acquired companies into the travel program
Manage the travel management company (TMC) and other external supplier relationships
Partner with Sourcing to develop strategies that support both regional and enterprise level sourcing goalsSelect, appoints and put in place supplier agreements with hotels, airlines, etc
Monitor all supplier agreements to establish and manage supplier performance , puts in place annual performance reviews with suppliers
Manage the relationship with travel suppliers in order to drive process improvements and cost savings and efficiencies
Effectively manage and leverage the relationship with the travel management company
Take lead role in defining appropriate staffing, organizational design and recruiting (third party) resources
Provide leadership and direction to travel agency account management staff to ensure optimal service and issue resolution
Manage, develop and review performance of travel management company support staff
Select and implement best in class travel booking and management technologies; incl mobile applications to enhance mobility of the corporate traveler
Manage company travel policy and processes
Track and oversee travel policy compliance
Review periodically the company travel policy and processes; make recommendations for updates and improvements, and following through to the implementation of any improvements
communicate, coach and educate business areas, and employees on the company travel policy and processes
Oversee an effective customer satisfaction survey for regular business travelers; including analyzing the results, and developing any improvement plan based on the survey results
Keep proactively abreast of industry news, innovations, trends and best practices in order to transfer this knowledge and best practices to MasterCard travel processes
Work closely with business continuity group and security for emergency/disaster recovery
Strategically align MasterCards travel portfolio to MasterCard partnerships and alliances, serve as key resource for knowledge of travel industry and align efforts for MasterCard commercial success, including managing obstacles & maintaining leadership alignment

Relevant Experience and job requirements
Substantial (>8 years) working experience in travel management or other relevant experience;
Managerial experience required
Extensive knowledge of travel industry, corporate travel management and travel technology
Knowledge of regional geographies, cultures, and customs, as well as legal and tax requirements as they pertain to travel contracts and invoicing across the various countries in North and Latin America
Bachelors degree required with concentration in travel/hospitality management , business administration, procurement, finance
