Consultant, Internet Engineering


The Internet Operations team is responsible for the day to day maintenance and operation of various web platforms and their supporting services.

Internet Operations Engineers are engaged in the project lifecycle as infrastructure is designed and ultimately inherit responsibility of the new environment.

The primary responsibility of the team is to react to incidents in cloud, PaaS, Legacy and pipeline infrastructure platforms.

Secondary objectives of the team are to improve the resiliency of systems through active contribution back to design as well as automating repetitive tasks.


This is a €œhands on€ role that will support and manage cloud service requests and executes standard changes with minimal supervision, reacting to and proactively avoiding issues with infrastructure platforms used for delivery of cloud services.

Work individually or in a team on various cloud system projects

Perform incident resolution and root cause problem determination to ensure availability and stability of virtual platforms according to established service level agreements by working individually or in a multidisciplinary team

Interact with and create effective monitoring systems that reduce the need for human intervention in daily web operations

Identify and create automation that can be used by initial responders for easily resolvable issues, including rugged code solutions to automate detection and recovery of common operational problems

Responsible for performing root cause analysis on a wide array of technical problems, ranging from application compatibility failures to complex infrastructure outages

In addition, through effective problem management, the engineer will help drive incidents out of the environment by providing feedback to the development teams.

Configure and fine tune cloud infrastructure systems in a hybrid IT infrastructure environment

Support Security configurations, patching, and troubleshooting.

Develop scripts for automating client/server functions

All About You

Expert understanding of Operational duties

Working knowledge of target platforms (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, vSphere, Cloud Foundry, Jenkins/Concourse pipelines)

Experience with Jboss, Websphere, TomCat, Apache and webseal desired

Familiarity with XML Gateways, APi technology and F5 load balancers preferred

Highly attuned to security needs and best practices

Ability to write quality automation code in more than one language

Familiarity with multiple cloud vendors and past experience a plus
